The other day I got an email that made me giggle. It was from a casting company looking for couples to feature on a reality television show about teenage brides. I deleted the email without another thought.
Later on I was discussing it with my best friend. She said that there is no better way to ruin a relationship than by airing your entire relationship (the good and the bad) on public television. I would have to agree.
Marriage is a precious gift. It should be savored, nourished, and protected. I am a firm believer that a certain amount of privacy is necessary to maintain the health of a relationship. There are certain aspects of a marriage that should remain between a husband and a wife.
There is no one who knows me deeper or more completely than my husband does, and no one knows him quite as well as I do. That's the way it should be and that's the way we intend to keep it.
Thoughts?
Happy Monday. Much love and God bless.

i completely agree! Reality TV is far from reality in most cases. I keep a blog and that's not exactly "private" but I am in control of what I put out on my lil space of the web. Cameras 24/7 would be an invasion of that special space that only we know...that place we call Home.
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree!! I couldnt even imagine having out lives aired for the world to see. The intimate special moments wouldn't really be special because it's not just between husband and wife. Great post!
ReplyDelete100% agree too! I couldn't imagine having all my business and personal time with my family put on TV for everye to see. Takes awa all that is sacred.
ReplyDeletei totally agree with you! sometimes i'm even hesitant to put things on my blog for this very reason!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%! I couldn't have said it better myself. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my! No way. Never. No one needs to see and know the nitty gritty...on TV or a blog.
ReplyDeleteKinda creepy, really. I'm not generally a fan of reality TV anyway. Am I a loner in that boat? ;)
How the heck could you ever be yourself with a million people watching you? Privacy is SUCH a big thing in a relationship, being yourself around that person is SUCH a big thing, I 100% agree!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Look at all the famous people whose lives get ruined every day from being in the public eye, little lone, the ones who do it on live tv... ie John & Kate, Jessica & Nick, etc!
ReplyDeleteAnd then those who are on that 16 and pregnant... oy, don't even start with their already rocky relationships!
I 100 percent agree with you and would never open my personal life for the whole world to see. Happy baby's first Halloween!
ReplyDeleteYour love you share with your significant other is very personal and should be kept between the walls of your house and inside you family. If you look at all the people have taken on that road already it hasn't lasted. Apparently even Kim Kardashians 72 day marriage is ending. LOVE YOU AND JULIETTE
ReplyDeleteI agree!!
ReplyDeleteMarriage is a private union, and there are things that should remain between husband and wife.
TV can do some crazy things to marriages and our lives. Fame can be over board at time. What matters most is the love between you two & its not always best to open it up to the public. I was also 17 when I got married=))Best decision ive ever made..
ReplyDeleteIm a new follower, follow each other?
Xo
Agreed. On the other hand, your sharing on this blog has opened a lot of eyes to the virtues of marriage - even at a young age!
ReplyDeletePeople often get so caught up in the thought of being famous, or experiencing a new way of life. If you're happy in your life now there's no since in changing it. I think you did brilliant by deleting it. I would have done the same.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you also! There are enough seperations and divorces in the world and especially with the famous people, that its like why do they need programs like that-that usually end the relationship between a husband and wife. Even though I dont watch those shows (but heard of them) The only good thing they do is , break that special "spark" between spouses and steal the special and secretive bond that is between a husband and a wife. At the end, it breaks families apart. Great post!
ReplyDeleteNew follower! Hope to see you on my blog :)
totally agree!!
ReplyDeletei think it's too funny that they contacted you! i agree though that you should stay away from airing all your business on tv. one of my favorite couples was ruined by tv: jessica simpson and nick lachey. *tear* they were so cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, lady!! It's probably why celebrity marriages fail so often- you really can't be yourself with the cameras rolling. I hope you had a fantastic Halloween, my friend!
ReplyDeletePrivacy is a sweet thing. I agree, my husband trusts me and I need to keep it that way!!
ReplyDeleteHear hear...too many marriages end in divorce people of reality TV or what is said in the blogosphere..privacy should rule indeed!
